Even though the legend and entertainer Prince is gone, his influence lives on through his music and (not so surprisingly) through the color purple, a shade that’ has been linked with the entertainer since his award-winning song Purple Rain first made its debut.

As a tribute to “The Purple One,” aka Prince, Pantone recently named a new color after him. Love Symbol #2 is a dusky purple hue, clearly inspired by the iconic one’s signature emblem and his custom purple Yamaha piano. “A musical icon known for his artistic brilliance, Love Symbol #2 is emblematic of Prince’s distinctive style. Long associated with the purple family, Love Symbol #2 enables Prince’s unique purple shade to be consistently replicated and maintain the same iconic status as the man himself,” according to Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute. Troy Carter, the entertainment adviser to Prince’s estate adds, “This is an incredible way for his legacy to live on forever.”

Though Prince’s music will most likely be the reason for his legacy’s staying power, you can also show your everlasting love and additional support for the artist by donning all shades of purple-toned beauty products. Here are some BITB favorites that are bound for icon status themselves:

Essie Girly Grunge ($9), a gorgeous metallic purple with a silver shine, is highly pigmented for rich true color, and you’ll love the ease of application and quick-dry formula. Simply swipe it on for one coat coverage and a super glossy finish.

Mugler Alien Hair Mist ($40) comes contained in a deep purple-hued bottle reminiscent of an amethyst and Prince’s own signature shade. Just eyeing it displayed on your vanity will help you embrace your inner goddess, but spritzing it on will take things to a whole other level. Apply just a bit to dry hair and get ready to fall in love with this blend of warm woody and floral notes including Jasmine Sambac, Cashmeran Wood and Amber Gris.

Dior Diorshow Mascara in Purple ($28.50) has a mega conditioning formula and microfibers for a lash boosting effect. The tube’s airlock system keeps it as fresh as possible and also keeps it from drying out, while the extra large brush makes it easy to build lashes up to your desired volume. It also has Dior’s signature light rose scent to gently envelop your senses.

Guerlain The Eye Pencil in Deep Purple ($31) is an easy way to create a gorgeous smoky eye loo or to master a precisely lined eye thanks to its kohl formula, built-in sharpener and stay-put water-resistant finish.

Surratt Beauty Automatique Lip Crayon in Deep in Vogue ($34) saturates your lips in color — in this case a high-intensity, matte, royal purple hue — and hydration. Simply twist it up to line your lips and color in your pout and expect it to stay put for at least 6 hours.

Note: The Essie, Mugler, Surratt Beauty, Dior and Guerlain beauty products were tested in store. Opinions are my own.
