Who knew water was trending? I did, but that’s not why I love water-based beauty products this time of year. At the very top of the list is that they never slip and slide, no matter how steamy and sticky the weather gets. Also, water-based products cool on contact, don’t add excess oil, are quickly absorbed, are not likely to clog pores and can even boost hydration in a major way.
Check out these H2O-laced keepers:
La Mer The Cleansing Micellar Water ($90) is a super-luxurious way to cleanse your skin gently and effectively. It’s formulated with de-clustered water so it’s easily absorbed by the body, marine micelles to whisk away impurities and pollutants including waterproof makeup, and marine nutrients to remineralize your skin, but you can also expect it to do a lot more than just clean your complexion. You’ll also benefit from added moisture, major renewal, soothing and smoothing properties, and a glow that can’t be beat. Simply apply the micellar water to a cotton pad and sweep it over your skin and repeat the process until the pad comes away clean.
Jurlique Activating Water Essence ($55) harnesses the “living energy” of plant matter so it is able to nourish your skin and help it hold onto moisture, making it feel and look softer, smoother and healthier. Add a few drops of this essence to your hand and gently press it into the skin of your face, neck and chest morning and evening before applying any of your usual skincare serums and moisturizers, and other beauty products. It’s formulated with Marshmallow Root Extract, Peach Leaf Extract, Calendula Extract and Witch Hazel Extract to hydrate and balance moisture levels, smooth, soften, soothe, firm and protect. You’ll also love its light, herbal scent made up of lavender, geranium and sandalwood notes.
Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Serum ($65) combats dull, dry, lined and unevenly textured skin on the face and neck thanks to a blend of Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium PCA, Silk Proteins and minerals including bio-fermented zinc, copper, manganese, iron and silicon. All skin types will benefit from this soothing, smoothing serum and the hydration and radiance it delivers.
Laneige Water Bank Hydrating Gel ($35), powered by six specific moisture-maximizing minerals—zinc, potassium, calcium, sodium, magnesium, and manganese–added to hydro ionized and stabilized water, is easily absorbed into your skin so your complexion is nourished and stays hydrated for practically eons.
Giorgio Armani Crema Nuda ($200) is the little makeup-skincare hybrid that could. Simply smooth this tinted moisturizer on from the center off your face and outwards toward your hairline as you blend well. This skin perfecter features transparent pigments suspended in a water base that takes BB and CC creams to the next level, reflecting light to blur imperfections and add radiance. You can choose to wear it sans makeup immediately after applying your usual skincare routine, or it can be used underneath your foundation for a more refined looking finish. It also boasts a unique anti-aging complex that encourages your skin’s natural glow and has hyaluronic acid to up the ante in the hydration department.
