It’s refreshing to see a statement-making trend that’s wearable for all, which is why I’m crazy about the bright white manicures showcased at the recent Creatures of the Wind Spring/Summer 2017 Runway Show using Morgan Taylor Lacquer’s All White Now. When using white or any other light shade for nails, Danielle Candido, the Lead Artist for Morgan Taylor Lacquer recommends you, “float the coat”. In other words, apply a drop of polish to the nail and use the flat brush to float it across the nail to evenly distribute the color without any messy streaks. Sounds easy enough.
Though this will be trending for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2017 season I’m already getting in on the action and plan to wear it all Fall and Winter long. It looks fresh and clean, makes just enough of a statement, and literally goes with everything. *Note: You can also add a vertical or horizontal stripe, or other geometric shape in a contrasting color if you want to add some graphic interest.
In fact, this crisp white mani has surfaced before on the spring and summer runways but has never been as popular in the “real world” as the classic crimson nail or neutral pinks and beiges. Is it the right time for it to take it’s rightful place and become a year-round go-to? It seems so.  seems like the time is right for it to take it’s rightful place among the classics.
If you think you might want to give it a go, besides Morgan Taylor Lacquer’s pick, here are three more you’ll definitely want to try:
Nars Nail Polish in Ecume ($20), a creamy white, has a new and improved brush and formula with a long-lasting, high-gloss finish.
Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Hi-Shine Nail Polish in White Snow ($18) has a bottle that’s pretty enough to be the only reason you purchase it but you’ll also flip for this polish that claims to be as shiny as 30 coats of lacquer in a chip resistant formula. It’s a sheer cloud-white shade with a shine that was inspired by Marc Jacobs’s highly lacquered coffee table. Patented bonding agents give a plasticized wet look.
Formula X Sheer Strength – Treatment Nail Polish in Cloud Nine ($12.50) features a nail strengthener and color in one. You’ll like that it is enriched with botanical extracts, keratin, and natural hydrators to prevent splitting, cracking, and peeling. Most telling of all is that a consumer perception study found that 100% of those polled said their nails looked stronger, smoother, and brighter immediately after application and 100% also said that they looked stronger, smoother, brighter, and more flexible after 1 weeks time.
NOTE: Nars, Marc Jacobs and Formula X nail polishes have been sent for review. All opinions are my own.
