THE FRAGRANCE WORLD’S SPECIAL NIGHT
Some call it the Oscars of the beauty industry, but The Fragrance Foundation Awards may just be the most coveted and glamorous award ceremony not attended by every celebrity in town. But that doesn’t mean this year’s event wasn’t star-studded: actors Michael C. Hall, Marisa Tomei, and Angie Harmon attended and The Voice winner and Sony Music recording artist brought the house down with her rendition of Hallelujah.
Speaking of the house, the annual event was held at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City. Oh, and comedian Dana Carvey served as emcee and model Coco Rocha was co-chair.
But enough about the celebs, the real stars of the evening were the award winning fragrances. Big winners included Estée Lauder Modern Muse, Tom Ford Rive D’Ambre, and Clinique Happy, which were chosen by industry members of the foundation. Consumers had a say too, choosing One Moment One Direction by Elizabeth Arden as the Consumer Choice Award winner in the celebrity category.
Primarily, the event honors the creativity and innovation of the finished fragrance, but behind-the-scenes beautymakers received kudos as well. Leonard Lauder, chairman emeritus of The Estée Lauder Companies, presented the Hall of Fame Award to his friend and retail legend, Michael Gould, the former chairman and CEO of Bloomingdale’s. Master perfumer, Carlos Benaim of IFF, received the Perfumer of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award. His success record includes the creation of Calvin Klein Eternity for Men, Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds, and Vicktor & Rolf Flowerbomb, among many, many others. An incredibly kind and charming man, Benaim was met with a standing ovation.
Following is the list of all 19 awards, just scroll down, and let us know if your favorite made the cut. Remember that most categories require that the fragrance launched in 2013.
