TEAL IS THE NEW ORANGE

10-15-15 | Posted by

Teal is the New Orange…for Halloween 2015 at least!

This year, a national campaign, the The Teal Pumpkin Project, is encouraging people to offer non-food treats so that all trick-or-treaters (even those with severe food allergies) feel included and stay safe throughout the Halloween season. Those who choose to participate simply place a teal-colored pumpkin outside their home to make it known that even if they’re still giving out candy, there are also allergy-safe options available as well — think small toys or other non-food items.

The color teal wasn’t chosen lightly. Color psychology is big business — just ask those in the field of marketing and branding who believe that the color teal signifies trustworthiness, reliability and commitment. Now that I’m in the know about what this color means, in addition to the teal pumpkin I’ll be placing outside, it might not be a bad idea to surround myself with touches of it all the time.

At a beauty event I recently attended I learned that teal is actually one of those shades that flatters almost everyone. Knowing this, it might be in your best interest to use teal-colored makeup and even surround yourself with this shade.

  • If you aren’t wired to push the envelope too much you can still get your dose of teal on your nails or as an understated wash of color on your lids.
  • If you’re willing to get a bit trendy, a thin to bold line on your upper lids will get noticed.
  • For those who like to be the center of attention, a bold teal shadow or teal tipped strands will do the job.
  • You can surround yourself with pretty teal-colored accessories in your home and on your person to incorporate the color into your day-to-day life.

Choose from the following teal products:

ButterLondon Nail Lacquer in Artful Dodger ($15) is my new favorite hue. This bright, fun color makes it easy to be on trend and is surprisingly age-appropriate for all.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Eye Pencil in Teal ($23) sets in seconds upon application and lasts 12 hours. It’s long-wearing, water-resistant, lightweight and won’t feather or bleed. The double-ended pencil allows you to color from one end and smudge from the other end.

Nars Shimmer Eye Shadow in Bavaria ($25) can be applied to the lids dry for a sheer wash of color or with a damp brush for a bolder, richer take. It can even be smudged on top of lower lash or uppelash eyeliner for subtle color and added definition.

This sandalwood, vetiver, oak moss scented hand soother leaves hands soft, silky and wonderfully scented plus it’s free of parabens, phthalates, and petroleum. I’ll toss one in my bag and keep another on my bedside table.
