For light-as-a-feather color, check out the new Dior Addict Extreme ($30) lipstick, which will be hitting store counters nationwide next month. When applied, the melt-away texture leaves just the right amount of color on your lips to make a definite impression yet not overwhelm. Available in 12 shades, Dior Addict Extreme has a fashion inspired color palette that actually harkens back to the wishes of the brand’s founder, designer Christian Dior.
“Why deprive fashion and women of the prestige of color,” asked Christian Dior, who as early as 1947 envisioned a “total look” where his fashions would be complemented with original and vibrant shades of lipstick.
Tyen, artistic director of Dior makeup, continues this tradition with Dior Addict Extreme, which draws inspiration from current runway shows.
The variety of colors offers a comprehensive range that goes from barely there to full out glamour. The shades are divided into four color families: natural beige shades; variations of essential pinks; bright, playful colors; and glamorous, intense shades. Each color family has a signature shade: Incognito, a chic discreet greige reminiscent of the minimalist chic of Parisian women; Lucky, a bold pink shade named after one of Mr. Dior’s favorite models in the 1950s; Plaza, a refined mauve named for the iconic Plaza Athenee Hotel on the Avenue Montaigne in Paris; and Riviera, an electric coral celebrating Christian Dior’s love of sunny locales.
These four signature shades are also available in Dior Addict Vernis ($23) nail polish, which can be matched to the lipstick or contrasted for a fashionable color block look.
