That innocent bystander on your sink—the hand soap—now is getting its due. Several brands are introducing beautiful varieties that now are on par with shower gels in their look and feel, and certainly in their ingredients. Since hands get extremely dry with repeated washings, hand soaps by nature tout “moisturizing” benefits like a Superbowl commercial. Here are some we love:
L’Occitane Verbena Cleansing Hand Wash ($20)
This pale yellow number is formulated with a vegetable base and is gentle enough to use on a baby’s hands. The sparkling lemony aroma of verbena gives cleansing hands that zing, and while it’s a pricier hand soap than most, it’s worth it for that non-
BEAUTY SECRETS FROM THE WILD – BAMBOO TAKES ROOT
As we become more conscious about the products we use, especially those for our face and body, we are turning more often to organic and natural items. Right now, the hot item is bamboo.

SHOWER ME SOFTLY

SOFTSOAP NUTRI SERUMS BODY WASH – I love me some body wash. As a recent convert from bar soap, I am ready to try any reasonably priced liquid version I can get my hands on. At the moment I have three in my shower, including Axe, Dove, and now Softsoap, and each has its own merits. I just happen to like variety in my routine, as evidenced by the massive accumulation of bottles and tubes on my shelf. Softsoap’s formula has these suspended Softening Serum Pearls that remind me of science class, and a very light fruity scent that isn’t overpowering. I like to get the most mileage out of soap, so when I’m done using this in the shower, it doubles as a handsoap. Voila – a two for one special!Â
FINAL VERDICT – BOB (BEAUTY ON A BUDGET) – At just about $4.00 per bottle, you really can’t go wrong here.
