The word lavender comes from the Latin root lavare, which means “to wash,” but it’s renowned for its distinctive fragrance, which comes from pressing the essential oil from its violet flower. Since ancient times, it has been used in baths to help purify the body and spirit, as well as a remedy for insomnia and anxiety, depression and fatigue. Research has confirmed that lavender produces a calming, soothing, and sedative effect when its scent is inhaled. Boy Meets Girl: Molton Brown London Paradisiac Pink Pepperpod Collection

PRODUCT: Molton Brown London Paradisiac Pink Pepperpod Collection
For years, Molton Brown’s legendary Re-charge Black Pepper Bodywash has been praised by both beauty editors and common folk alike. The cult favorite is so popular that the company has grown the Re-charge Black Pepper line to include a Body Hydrator, Bodyscrub Bar, Eau de Toilette and even a scented candle. The deep, warm and earthy scent is perfect for those days when the bitter cold makes you so unwilling to get wet that you rethink the whole daily shower routine.
Seems great, doesn’t it? And it is, for about 50% of the world’s population, the masculine half, that is. Guys relate well to Re-Charge's masculine fragrance (or “cologne,†as they insist upon calling it) and brown packaging that, while attractive, is clearly meant to appeal to, or at least appease, their manliness. Us ladies, however, tend to prefer products with a more feminine touch.
Realizing that women like to spice it up too, Molton Brown has introduced a pepper-scented line just for us. The Paradisiac Pink Pepperpod collection includes a Bath & Shower Gel ($28), Bathing Milk ($34) and Body Lotion ($28). The line's fragrance switches out Re-charge’s black peppercorn oil from Madagascar with pink pepperpods from the Gulf of Guinea, plus the three products have been colored pink for good measure. The look may be different, but the effect is the same. A shower with the Paradisiac Pink Pepperpod Bath & Shower Gel seemingly warms you from the inside out, water temperature aside. The smell is gorgeous, and in spite of the new feminine positioning, still appeals to the brawnier set. Two male sniff-testers confirmed this. One called the scent “powerful,†and the other commented that it smelled like a man’s “cologne.†(Both were annoyed at the interruption to the football game.)
Paradisiac Pink Pepperpod is more feminine than Re-charge Black Pepper only in its marketing, but this won’t bother ladies who enjoy spicy, oriental scents. The new line from Molton Brown has the same wonderful, warming effect as its more masculine predecessor, but looks so much cuter in a girl’s shower.
