But there’s a third option—enzyme-based exfoliation—that has a slew of advantages over its skin-smoothing siblings. According to dermatologist Dr. Jessie Cheung of Willowbrook, Illinois, “Enzymes work by accelerating the chemical reactions necessary to renew the skin.
