Milk has myriad benefits, and not just for cappuccino and yogurt parfaits—it can work wonders for your skin and hair, too. “Milk contains lactic acid, which is an alpha-hydroxy acid (like citric acid and glycolic acids). Lactic acid helps to gently exfoliate and release dead cells from the surface of the skin without rough mechanical exfoliation techniques. Milk also contains anti-inflammatory properties that help soothe redness and even itching,” explains New York City dermatologist, Dr. Jessica Krant.
