An extremely potent antioxidant derived from grapes, blueberries and even cocoa, resveratrol was catapulted into the spotlight in 2006 when a National Institutes of Health study found that it improved the health of overweight aged mice. Further research concluded that resveratrol can extend the lifespan of fish, flies and worms, and this unique quality immediately caught the attention of skincare scientists who have since started incorporating it into creams and serums in the hopes that it has an anti-aging effect on the skin as well.
