Expect 2014 to be a year of confidence, joy, and love, if the trend analysts at Pantone are right. The global color authority has chosen Radiant Orchid as the 2014 color of the year.
“An invitation to innovation, Radiant Orchid encourages expanded creativity and originality, which is increasingly valued in today’s society,†states Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.
The company describes Radiant Orchid as a harmony of fuchsia, purple, and pink undertones, a wonderfully versatile shade for beauty products. It’s dual cool and warm qualities flatter many hair, eye and skin tones. Much more translatable to beauty than Emerald Green
PERFECT POUT TRENDS: LIP PENCILS TAKE CENTER STAGE

In this era of bountiful beauty innovations like tinted moisturizers, BB Creams and long-lasting lipsticks comes a wonderful lip color option – velvet lip pencils. Basically these are creamy formulations that masquerade as chubby pencils but give you the coverage of a full bodied lipstick. Most contain a glossy element and provide long lasting color.
NARS Velvet Matte and Gloss Lip Pencils ($24) – These pencils are seriously the bomb, providing full lip coverage with a long-wearing formula. The application is just like a lipstick, but the fun factor is in the crayola-style chubby design of the pencil. CLINIQUE’S CHUBBY STICKS WILL MAKE YOU HAPPY

PRODUCT: Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Color Balm
Clinique has resurrected an old time favorite and quite frankly created a new BITB fave. The Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Color Balm is cool and cute and packs a serious color punch. If you’re bored of your same old lip balm and want a pop of color on your lips that lasts a long time, these could be your new go-to sticks.
Clinique somehow always gets it right, and the Chubby Stick is no exception. It moisturizes chapped and dry lips (perfect for the winter) while adding just enough color to make lips look (and feel) kissable. The shades are positively mouthwatering, including Chunky Cherry, Graped Up, Super Strawberry, and Whoppin Watermelon. Our favorites are the Super Strawberry, which is a berry pink that looks great on any skin tone, and Whole Lotta Honey, which is a beige shade with a hint of shine that’s creates a more subtle look.
The Chubby Stick is perfect for a lipstick-phobe or anyone who is afraid of too much color. Plus it dispenses cleanly, leaving no lipstick stains on your hands or the tube afterwards. Just pop it in your purse and go. It also makes a perfect stocking stuffer… Santa, are you listening?
Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balms can be purchased at www.clinique.com for $15.
