There is a time and place for full-coverage opaque makeup — the ideal choice to cover acne, birthmarks, or to make enough of a statement when you’re performing on the stage — but, now is not that time. Instead, now is the perfect time for that less-is-more, lightweight look and formula that sheer beauty products deliver.
If you’re looking to lighten up and still look your best, you’ll want to check out BITB‘s hottest picks for how to go head-to-toe sheer:
Jin Soon Summer 2017 Sheer Gloss Collection ($18 each) was created because its founder “has always wanted to create colors that represent beauty through pure, fresh looking nail shades.” Mission accomplished! The 3 shades in the collection are Dew (a sheer creamy white nail gloss with a rose scent), Pixie (a sheer pink, rose scented, super glossy polish) and Mist (a sheer shimmer topping with minuscule white particles and a sprinkling of gold shimmer), all with a fresh, ethereal vibe. They’re all so incredibly perfect that it’s impossible to pick my favorite.
Giorgio Armani Beauty Fluid Sheer ($62) gives you options. You’ll get an all over glow when you mix it in with your favorite foundation before applying. You can use it to illuminate your skin by applying it on the bridge of your nose, the tops of your cheeks, underneath the arch in your brow and on your chin before blending well. Depending on the shade you choose, you will recreate a healthy, natural glow by dabbing it on your cheeks as blush or bronzer. Whether you’re using to add color, radiance, highlight certain areas or as a makeup base, you can’t go wrong! You’ll love the lightweight, translucent formula and broad range of shades suitable for all complexions.
Tom Ford Lip Color Sheer ($53) perfectly complements sun-kissed skin and is ideal for those looking for a fresh and luscious sheer pop of color. The lip-loving, hydrating formula is rich in super moisturizing, reparative Shea Butter and Vitamins C and E. Available in two shades, Paradiso (the super shiny sheer pink shown below) and Sweet Spot (a high shine sheer coral).
Ole Henriksen Transform Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer ($38) quickly goes to work to reverse a dull-looking dry complexion, uneven skin tone and uneven texture thanks to multi-fruit acids, licorice and pea extracts. The formula absorbs easily, is antioxidant-rich, oil-free and super-lightweight. To use, apply it twice a day over your usual serum and expect softer, smoother, more radiant skin.
Alterna Haircare Cleanse Extend Translucent Dry Shampoo ($22) boosts volume of freshly washed hair and also extends the time between shampoos on second or third-day hair. This dry shampoo is near-invisible and doesn’t leave behind a powdery residue as it absorbs dirt, oil and product build-up. It’s formulated with Organic Bamboo Extract and Organic Blue Yucca Root to make hair stronger and healthier. The root also contains starch as a natural fixative. To use it, simply spray throughout your hair paying special attention to the root area, and allow it to dry for about a minute. Then brush product through hair from roots through ends.
