SHAVE THE DATE – MOVEMBER IS HERE
September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and thanks to a small group of Australian surfers, November has been dubbed Movember, the month dedicated to raising funds and awareness for men’s health, particularly testicular and prostate cancer.
To support the movement, guys grow a Mo (slang for a moustache), and essentially become walking, talking billboards during the month of November. Now in its seventh year in the US, Movember participants (Mo Bros) start off clean-shaven, then grow and groom their Mo for the rest of the month, raising money along the way to benefit men’s health programs that combat prostate and testicular cancer. To join or learn more about the movement, including sponsors and events, check our Movember.com.
Men’s grooming companies are getting in the Movember spirit as well. The Art of Shaving pledges to donate all proceeds for each Mustache Trim ($15) to Movember. To find an Art of Shaving location near the man in your life, go to TheArtofShaving.com to book a Mo trim.
Dinair Airbrush Makeup encourages women (Mo Sistas) to support Movember by brandishing a Mo of their own, airbrushed, of course. Dinair offers more than 10 moustache stencils from Clark Gable to Dali, which range in price for $6 to $32. For more info, visit: AirBrushMakeup.com.
