Here is the story of a tragedy with a happy ending. For the second year, TheKnot.com has selected a couple to receive a dream wedding for free, including location, dress, hair, makeup, cake, and flowers. This year’s Dream Wedding couple is Rebekah Gregory and Pete DiMartino, survivors of the Boston marathon bombing.

Rebekah and Pete were at the finish line cheering on Pete’s mom when the bomb went off in Boston on April 15, 2013. Rebekah shielded her young son, saving his life but as a result she endured complex injuries to her left leg. After 15 surgeries, she still faces possible amputation. Pete lost 90% of the Achilles tendon on his right leg and suffered multiple fractures in his ankle, resulting in numerous surgeries and endless physical therapy.

Following months of medical care, Pete proposed to Rebekah last October, and in January, TheKnot.com announced they would receive a dream wedding.

Now, comes the fun part. Ralph Lauren Romance fragrance has partnered with The Knot on this program to make Rebekah and Pete’s dream come true. The wedding will be created by wedding and event designer Marcy Blum with specific details determined by the voting public. Rebekah and Pete have transferred all wedding planning and decision making to America. Voting for the location has already taken place and will be announced on Valentine’s Day at TheKnot.com/Dream. At that time, the voting process for other categories will begin.

The Knot and Ralph Lauren Romance are a perfect marriage as well as the leading wedding planning destination and a fragrance dedicated to the timeless essence of falling in love. Rebekah sums it up poignantly, “I don’t know if I’ll be able to walk down the aisle, but all I want to do is marry the love of my life Pete,”
