PELLEVE PRESENTS SKIN TIGHTENING LESSONS
New York dermatologist, Dr. Dina Strachan of Aglow Dermatology, graciously opened her Union Square office to the press on April 2 to highlight the benefits of Pellevé® and PelleFirm from Ellman International. Editors from Shape, The Oprah Magazine, and Prevention, among others, were there to learn about the enhanced Pellevé® System, including PelleFirm, the new body firming treatment.
Dr. Strachan outlined the benefits of Pellevé as a wrinkle reducing and skin-tightening system. “First of all, it is customizable, comfortable, cost effective, and there is no downtime,†she said. “It’s great for someone who wants something non-invasive.â€

The Pellevé system is FDA cleared for the treatment of mild to moderate skin wrinkles and skin tightening. The ideal candidate is between 30 to 60 years old with moderate skin laxity. It is not a replacement for a surgical facelift, said Dr. Strachan, athough it can help delay the necessity of one. If you have lost a lot of volume in your face and have a great deal of sagging, surgery may be a better alternative.
Pellevé results are often immediate, and continue to develop over six months. Dr. Strachan reported a pre-date Pellevé phenomenon, where patients schedule a treatment just before a date to get an immediate lift and skin refresher. The treatment is virtually painless and leaves no visible signs, except for an occasional slight redness that resolves quickly.
“Pellevé works by basically stimulating your body to do what it used to do,†said Dr. Strachan. “It causes a little micro injury that stimulates collagen and elastin production and changes the elastin fibers, causing a contraction of the skin.†Voila, your skin is lifted and wrinkles are diminished, especially around the delicate eye area.

PelleFirm uses the same device, but with a different handle. Both treatments use radiofrequency to target and heat the deep layers of the skin, bypassing the outer layer, which is why treatment leaves no exterior mark. Technically, Pellevé is FDA cleared to heat deep tissue—AKA skin tightening, explained Dr. Strachan.
She showed before and after photos of PelleFirm treatments, which were amazing. As with other body firming devices, it is not a weight loss system, but it does work wonders on getting rid of the jiggle and firming up a post-baby tummy. It also can visibly reduce the appearance of cellulite without invasive surgery or laser treatments.
A series of three treatments is generally recommended for both body and facial tightening, though as Dr. Strachan pointed out, many people see an immediate lifting effect after just one visit. Cost per treatment ranges from $500 to $1000, depending upon the location of the practitioner and the extent of the area to be treatment. Results last six months or longer, and often require nothing more than one refresher treatment once or twice a year to maintain the benefits. A small price to pay for a body lift!!!
