WINCE-FREE THREADING AT B LONDON BROW BAR
Getting ones brows shaped is not usually a pleasant experience. A requisite pluck, sting, and ouch accompany even the most celebrated brow treatments. And making small talk with technicians really makes me understand the Stockholm Syndrome.
This all changed with my last brow job thanks to b London brow bar at Henri Bendel in New York City. The first US outpost of b London walk-in brow bars located in department stores throughout the UK, the Bendel location offers the chain’s signature threading technique. The menu also includes brow and lash tinting, express facial treatments, and a head, neck, and shoulder massage.
I’ve been a die-hard plucking devotee, up until the b London experience—waxing was imprecise and threading haphazard. Again, my impression did a 180-degree turn in the hands of the skilled brow technician Sabah Feroz. The experience, dare I say, was enjoyable.
Practiced in threading since childhood, Sabah whipped my brows into shape, eliciting nary a whimper. Not only is she skilled with thread, she also has a great eye for shape and arch. Luckily, she is not alone. Her sister works at the Bendel location too.
The brainchild behind b London is Vanita Parti, a Londoner who envisioned a pain-free brow service for women and men on the go. An art passed down through generations, threading is known for its speed, precision, cleanliness, and durability. From Harvey Nichols and John Fenwick to Topshop and SpaceNK, the UK bars found their niche, as well as kudos from British Vogue. The innovation continues in NYC.
