MOISTURIZING COLOR CORRECTION ON THE GO FROM CLINIQUE
My original brush with Clinique’s Moisture Surge extended thirst relief occurred during a particularly bad winter, when my skin began to crave moisture like a desert plant.
Since that time, I have gravitated towards foundations with a hydrating component, and I’m always looking for new ones that combine an abundance of shade options and hydration (Smashbox Cosmetics’ Hydrating Foundation comes to mind). So I praise Clinique for having the innovative foresight to launch Moisture Surge CC Cream Compact ($35): perfect for those on the go, and ideal for touch ups and a bit of color.
The new rectangular silver compact features the Moisture Surge CC Cream on one side, and a sponge applicator on the other, as well as a mirror on the inside lid. The formulation features color-correcting optics, and while this is not meant to completely replace your foundation but rather to perfect skin pre or post foundation (I use mine pre-foundation), it will help with hydration, color correcting, and also function as a concealer, which means it can be used in the under eye area.
The idea here is not to provide full coverage, so if you’re looking for that, I recommend that you use the CC Cream Compact before applying foundation, but it is a wonderful solution for moisture-full light coverage. The formula has a lightweight texture and comes in six shades, from Light to Deep (use one shade darker than your traditional shade if you want a bronzing effect).
Moisture Surge CC Cream Compact Hydrating Colour Corrector Broad Spectrum SPF 25 complements two other one-step wonders from Clinique: these include the Moisture Surge CC Cream ($35), as well as the Age Defense BB Cream ($37). All these double-lettered products have an SPF factor (the compact has broad spectrum SPF 25 ), which means you can truly apply and go.
