Trendy new skincare products can be as appealing as a new glossy copy of Vogue—a combo of desire and disbelief. That’s why it’s so refreshing to see a new brand boast a robust combination of active ingredients that leads to real results. Such is the premise of Merumaya Integrative Effective Skincare, a UK line created by Maleka Dattu, a beauty industry pro, who has worked with Clinique, Origins, and Lancome on both sides of the Atlantic.
Launched in 2012, Merumaya works to reduce the signs of aging and prevent new ones from forming—hence the integrative moniker. Intensely Youthful Eye Cream (£24.50) is a star example of the integrative approach, as it immediately reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and works to protect the skin from bombarding environmental aggressors.
The twice-daily cream contains Argireline, a clinically tested peptide developed to temporarily inhibit the contraction of muscles, sort of like a topical Botox. Echium oil also helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fights water loss to keep the skin around the eyes plump and youthful. Mangosteen extract protects against free radical damage and ginseng joins the mix to reduce puffiness and dark circle.
A tactile elegant treatment, the eye cream feels rich and smooth and applies flawlessly. And miraculously, it hasn’t a hint of scent, which can make sensitive eyes tear.
Upon application, I saw an immediate smoothing effect, but as far as long term firming benefits, you will have to give Merumaya Integrative Effective Skincare Youthful Eye Cream a try and let us know the results.
Merumaya products are reasonably priced and available at John Lewis and Debenhams Oxford Street in the UK. If you wish to have them shipped internationally, be prepared for a £15 shipping charge.
