Patti is a true pioneer in skincare, having launched over 400 products for good known brands such as Avon, Elizabeth Arden, Guerlain and Peter Thomas Roth. She has been at the forefront of revolutionary product developments, having recognized the power of glycolic acid and acquiring the exclusive rights to commercialize it before most beauty insiders discovered its benefits.

Patti jumped at the opportunity to create an anti-aging skincare line better than anything she had created before. Patti secured the exclusive global rights to use the enzyme in all of Restorsea’s products.

1. What was your inspiration to create a skincare range and how did you get started?
I was part of the team responsible for commercializing glycolic acid. Over the past 30 years, I have created and launched over 400 beauty products. Restorseaâ€™s technology is based on an enzyme, Aquabeautine XLÂ®, that baby salmon release in order to get out of their egg shell. The enzyme is designed to digest the egg shell membrane. In doing so, It creates an opening which the baby salmon can swim away unharmed. When applied to human skin, the enzyme provides the same effects as prescription retinols and glycolic acid but with no irritation. This was the best ingredient I have seen in the 30 years I have been in the beauty business. I spent a year in formulation and sent lab samples to Patricia Saxby, Divisional Merchandising Manager at Bergdorf Goodman. She agreed to take the line. I then raised funding initially from my classmates (and their mothers) from Harvard Business School. One of these investors, became my co-Founder and together we raised over $55 million in angel investment. This enabled us to purchase the exclusive rights to the enzyme, obtain 37 issued or pending patents and invest in clinical studies that have been published in peer-reviewed medical journals.

2. How is Restorsea unique in terms of ingredients and formulations?
We are the only medical-grade skincare line that is both natural and efficacious. All of our products are formulated with natural and toxin-free ingredients (e.g. NO: parabens, PEGs, silicone, mineral oil or phthalates) and contain our proprietary and patented enzyme, Aquabeautine XLÂ®. This enzyme is released by the baby salmon and dissolves the egg shell membrane enabling the baby salmon to swim out of the egg unharmed. When this enzyme is applied to human skin, it is the only ingredient which only cleaves dead skin cells and leaves the living cells untouched. As a result, skin is continuously exfoliated with no irritation. Our technology is supported by peer-reviewed studies published in medical journals. These studies show that our technology reduces redness (e.g. rosacea), flaky skin (e.g. eczema) and dark spots (e.g. melasma).
