What can be done to give me the best possible breast augmentation?
There is a brand new device for breast enhancement surgery. It is called the Keller Funnel™ and it is used to insert a silicone gel implant using a “no touch” technique. This means the implant never touches the surgeon’s gloves or the patient’s skin. This device improves aesthetic outcomes, decreases scar size, decreases infection risks, and decreases the risk of complications. It does so by allowing the implant to be inserted through smaller incisions, which results in smaller scars and minimizes tissue trauma. This contributes to better wound healing, less bruising, less swelling, less pain, and faster recovery. I am one of a small number of New York City based plastic surgeons who is certified to use the Keller Funnel™.
Is there anything else besides BOTOX® Cosmetic which I can use to help improve frown lines?
XEOMIN® (incobotulinumtoxinA) was approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in July 2011 for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines, more commonly known as frown lines between the eyebrows, in adult patients. XEOMIN® is referred to as the “naked injectable” by physicians because it does not contain any complexing proteins. This reduces the risk of having an adverse reaction compared to other treatments designed to minimize wrinkles such as BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport®.
Is liposuction really good for my health as well as for my appearance?
A study presented at the 2011 annual meeting of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons found that liposuction may help reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. This study concluded that a statistically significant number of patients who underwent liposuction experienced a decrease in triglyceride levels and white blood cell counts, both of which can affect the quality of life and life expectancy. Therefore, liposuction can not only make you look better – it can improve your health as well!
What can I do to help my eyes look younger?
As you age, you may have extra upper eyelid skin. Your eyebrows may become lower. You may have some extra skin and “bags” on your lower eyelids. There are many options to address these problems, including some that are not surgical. With the use of lasers, fillers, and BOTOX® Cosmetic or a similar product, you can significantly improve the appearance of the eyes without surgery. Of course, if there is a lot of extra skin and/or the ‘bags” of the lower eyelids are quite large, a blepharoplasty may give you the most significant improvement and longest lasting results.
Are men getting plastic surgery?
Approximately 10% of all plastic surgery in the United States is performed on men. Commonly performed procedures include BOTOX® Cosmetic, nose jobs, eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), liposuction, and correction of gynecomastia, otherwise known as “man boobs.” Believe it or not, many men are getting facelifts and chin implants too to strengthen their jawlines and necklines. This helps make them look younger, which helps maintain that competitive edge personally and professionally. Lipoetching can also be performed in conjunction with abdominal liposuction to mimic a “six pack.”
Do I have to have an implant to lift my breasts if I do not want them any bigger?
Absolutely not! If you are pleased with the size of your breasts and you only want them lifted, then you just need a lift. In the vast majority of cases, your breast tissue may be lifted and you can improve the fullness of the upper portion of your breast without inserting an implant. In certain cases, a plastic surgeon may recommend an implant in conjunction with a lift. However, the choice is yours.
What can be done besides using creams or lotions to help improve cellulite?
Cellulaze™ is a new procedure, which uses a special laser under the skin to cut the band that causes those cellulite dimples to appear. This helps release the areas of skin depression, increase the elasticity and thickness of the skin, and diminish lumpy pockets of fat. 3-D imaging scans have actually measured the improvement and the results have been published in a leading aesthetic plastic surgery journal. The procedure is performed in the office under local anesthesia. You go home the same day and can go out to dinner that night if you wish.
