Alexandra Whitcombe, the daughter of a fine-arts aficionado and a New York City model grew up taking advantage of all that was beautiful around her — gallery openings, the ballet, and high fashion glamour was her world. Earning a degree in Art and Art History helped her fine tune her eye for quality and color, and years working in the floral industry gave her the expertise of how natural botanicals can work hand in hand and elevate beauty products. It was this realization that led Whitcombe to the soon-to-launch Vendome Paris, a luxurious beauty brand born from her love of beauty products and botanicals.

With more than 15 years of experience in both beauty and botanicals, Whitcombe has combined her passion for floral science and the world of botany with cutting-edge technology to create a line of cruelty-free artisanal products imbued with the finest ingredients from France, Switzerland, and Italy. Vendome Paris products are based on generations-old recipes and include ingredients like essential oils, plant extracts, fruit stem cells, vitamins and mineral combined with the latest state-of-the-art modern technology. Alexandra also inspires those around her with a collection of cause-motivated palates that donate proceeds to certain charities around the world to keep the good Karma flowing.


Whitcombe chatted with Beauty In The Bag about her new business and what excites her in the world of beauty now. Here’s what we learned:

1. What sets Vendome Paris apart from other beauty brands and why launch it now

Vendome Paris is different in that we work with historic and custom formulations based on centuries old recipes that I personally hunt for in Europe. We then combine them with cutting edge science to make them even more effective and reliable. Trusted, centuries old recipes blended with science is what sets us apart.

My father always said “There’s no time like the present!” But in all seriousness, it was simply the right time for me in my life and I am able to put all of my ducks in a row with the company. It was a matter of when inspiration meets inclination and timing. Now is when it all fell together.

2. What do you think will be your bestseller and why? 

I am developing an under eye “stylo” that will camouflage as well as plump the under eye. It will be like an under eye lift without resorting to injectables, which I think are woefully overused by women.

3. What on-the-horizon beauty technology, technique or product are you most excited about right now? 

Fruit stem cells continue to show a lot of promise and I am excited to see further advancements in this area.
