MAKEUP REVIEW: CHANEL SPRING 2013 COLOR COLLECTION
Logo-embossed makeup and classic beauty is what Chanel is best known for and this spring, the makeup collection is about simple sophistication and elegant hues. What makes the spring collection so special?
The new Spring 2013 colour collection by Chanel is called Printemps Precieux de Chanel, which celebrates Gabrielle Chanel’s ideal of simplicity and sophistication. It’s about elegance and contrasts, with an emphasis on the eyes and nails.

Aptly named for the beauty that spring brings, and created by Peter Phillips, the Printemps Precieux de Chanel collection is all about precious pinks and plums—with a flawless and radiant complexion to boot. The shades are vibrant for both lip and nail care, and there’s a new makeup palette in town with the classic Chanel logo.
Here’s what you get in the collection:
POUDRE SIGNÉE DE CHANEL Illuminating Powder ($68) is a limited edition powder embellished with the unmistakeable Chanel emblem. The powder creates a naturally luminous effect on your skin when you apply it on cheekbones. Or if you’re looking for a natural, all-over radiance, apply to the entire face.

The LES 4 OMBRES Quadra Eye Shadow ($59) is a mocha latte wonder, with refined beiges and velvety browns for a mesmerizing eye look that’s not overdone. We love the shadows when applied wet.
Skip your traditional black liner in favor of STYLO YEUX WATERPROOF Long-Lasting Eyeliner ($30). These new soft shades for spring include soft brown, vibrant lilac, and rosy beige.
When used sparingly, the JOUES CONTRASTE Powder Blush ($43), a rich and ripe apricot shade, makes your cheeks look refined and softly sculpted.

LE VERNIS Nail Colour ($27) nail lacquers are the most interesting of all the collection, and if you are going to get any of these products, I’d recommend springing for these first. The most on-trend colors this season are classic pink, haute brown, and impassioned pink-red. The classic pink is a great “nude” way to show off your nails.

The collection’s options of Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour ($34) includes copper brown, soft rose, and fresh peach—all soft and radiant. Feel free to skip the pure reds this season and go for these, after all, fresh peach seems to be the “it” color of the season. It’s a fabulous matte, but still keeps your lips nicely hydrated. Again, this would be my personal pick for the iconic color of the season.
Many of the nail lacquer shades will seem a repeat to those who were fans of the Harmony Spring 2012 season, which were peppered with pinks and corals too, so you may feel that the nail lacquers—at any rate—are a bit of a repeat. But the matte lipsticks definitely are not, nor is the powder, so these are unique to Spring 2013.
These gorgeous goodies are available in fine department stories nationwide now, and online at Chanel.com.
