L’ORÉAL MAKEUP GENIUS IS THE REAL DEAL
We live in an app world, and L’Oréal Paris has just taken a quantum leap in the category of makeup apps. Launching in late June, the L’Oréal Makeup Genius app will let you see—in real time—how different makeup looks, created by a makeup artist, look on you, and how a precise product, shade, or texture would look.
An instantaneous transformation will be at your fingertips, or rather your iPhone or iPad. Using your device’s frontfacing camera, your face will appear on the screen, ready for you to start playing. You can choose from a ½ dozen looks designed by L’Oréal Paris Consulting Celebrity Makeup Artist Billy B. Try the Butterfly Eye, it’s exaggerated and quite fun
If you want to try out an individual product, that is easy too. Just click on one of over 300 lip, cheek, eye, or face products and voila—it’s applied on your image, just like a magic mirror.
To create Makeup Genius, L’Oréal partnered with the company behind the de-aging effect of Brad Pitt in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, as well as over 50 AAA title games, films, and videos. Thanks to facial tracking technology, Makeup Genius delivers precise facial recognition through your phone or pad’s live mirror camera. The technology captures 64 facial data points and up to 100 expressions, making it intuitive enough to discern between the skin of the lips, eyes, nose, etc. The virtual image even moves as you do and reflects your every expression.
And, of course, when you find the lipgloss, mascara, or eyeliner of your dreams, the app helps you purchase it, before you can say, “brush, apply, and blot!â€
