Putting on mascara is possibly the least glamorous part of my beauty routine. I love to use cream and powder on my skin and play with different colors to create a sultry look whenever I go out to party, but when it comes to highlighting my eyes, I never seem to get the final touch right. Short lashes are my doom and that’s why, until I have the budget for extensions, I will consistently be on the hunt for the perfect mascara. Here are some of my favorites!
Serge Lutens Oeil Pour Oeil Mascara
Have a wedding to go to and expecting to get a little emotional? This is heavy duty waterproof stuff: the kind you won’t be able to get rid off for days without a good makeup remover. But at this price, that’s exactly what you signed up for!

Anastasia Lash Lifting Mascara
This product has fabulous potential, especially for the lucky ladies who already have long, lush eyelashes and just need a little extra body without clumping. My experience is that the formula is a little too thick for short lashes like mine. $22 on Sephora.com.

Clarins Wonder Length
This is possibly my favorite pick from the department store, as it is specially formulated to bring out the best of short lashes. I remember when this mascara first came out, I received it gifted in every color. Surprisingly, I liked it especiallybest in violet – really pretty with plum shadow to highlight my blue eyes. $24 at Macy’s.

Jan Marini Mascara
Introducing the ultimate mascara nerd product. Well-known for its revolutionary lash conditioner, Marini also offers a mascara using the line’s conditioning agents. Still your best bet if you’re ready to splurge! $80.00 on Dermstore.com.

Estée Lauder Turbo Lash
Holy vibrating mascara! Don’t these two words together sound like a woman’s biggest fantasy? One thing for sure is it makes for a fun gift for your BFF’s bachelorette party. Best thing is it actually works really well to simultaneously create volume, curl, length and separation. $32.00 at EsteeLauder.com

I fell for this one because of its luxurious packaging but most importantly because I first picked it up in a gift bag at a ladies luncheon during Justin Timberlake’s Shriners Open in Vegas last year (crazy hot memories linked to a product sometimes make you like a brand even more…). This mascara is great for touch-ups, so I always keep it in my purse! $29.00 on Sephora.com

There’s something about collecting Chanel makeup that somehow makes up for not owning a bag – YET! Just like the brand’s fashion items, this plumping mascara is built to last. Perfect pick if you’re going to glam it up with a bold line of kohl. $30 on NeimanMarcus.com

Maybelline Define-A-Lash Mascara
On the affordable side, it doesn’t get much better than this! This is the product I always bring out with me on trips, because I’m not afraid to lose it in the hotel room. Works really well for daytime or anytime you’re not wearing anything else on your face! $6.99 on Drugstore.com
