When surgery is not an option, but super creams don’t do enough, fillers can be the perfect solution. Facial fillers are definitely on the rise for women (and guys too) in search of a quick fix anti-aging plan.

The immediate “wow” factor of a liquid facelift can really lift your spirits along with your sags.

Liquid facelifts are best achieved by combining several types of fillers. Some fillers get injected deeply for cheek fullness and jowl smoothening, and others get injected more superficially just under the skin, for fine lines around the mouth and minor creases. Since there are so many FDA approved fillers available today, it is truly a customized procedure. Fillers are injected during 15 to 30 minute office procedures targeting the specific areas of your face that need rejuvenation. Several areas may be treated in a single session; for example, lines and wrinkles around the eyes, mouth and nose. Volumizing fillers can also produce fuller, natural looking lifted cheeks and chins beautifully.

You can get a complete lifting by having your fibroblast stimulated which encourages collagen growth all with injectables.  Using the best of the new technologies available, doctors can get the kind of results that were formerly only possible with surgery without any more than topical local anesthesia. Sculptra®, an injectable form of poly-L-lactic acid, combined with BOTOX® has an incredible impact on facial rejuvenation. BOTOX® serves to soften muscle activity and lines of expression, while the Sculptra® actually stimulates your fibroblasts to grow new collagen. It is a great one-two punch for a non-surgical lift. Sculptra® is a unique product that differs from traditional fillers in several ways.  It has been shown to stimulate fibroblasts to grow your own collagen, thus increasing facial volume and skin tone. What this means is that when the product leaves your skin, you are left with your own natural collagen and the effects can last two to three years.  Due to the collagen stimulating effects of Sculptra®, this serves as a preventative treatment as well as corrective.

Evolence is a new collagen derived filler that lasts well and helps restructure fallen or sunken areas where your natural collagen has let you down – such as around the mouth and upper cheeks. It also works great for the bridge of the nose.

Radiesse® can also be used to add definition and plump up nose to mouth creases and drooping corners of the mouth. There are a variety of hyaluronic acid fillers on the market, but the safest and most widely used are Juvederm®, Restylane® and Perlane®. These work beautifully to fill in lines, wrinkles, and scars, as well as for lip enhancement, without any downtime. You can wear makeup right away and look amazing.

Many doctors today will offer pain-free injections by adding lidocaine or local anesthetic to filler syringes. Or if you prefer,  ask for a dental block (especially for around the lips which is the most tender area) or a topical numbing cream before any needle goes near your face.

In terms of longevity, everyone responds differently. For example, BOTOX® typically lasts three to four months. In some patients, Juvederm® and Restylane® may last six to twelve months and even longer. Evolence can last over a year, and Sculptra® may last two years after a series of three or more injection sessions. Filler treatments can range from a bare minimum of $500 per syringe (not in NY or LA though….) to a few thousand for a few syringes, depending on the number of areas that need improvement and the amount of material required. It’s a fraction of the cost for a face lift and with little or no down time.

Fillers are also a great alternative for younger gals who want to look younger and who are not ready for a facelift, and for women who have already had a facelift and just want to maintain the results. A few injections in key strategic areas can make a dramatic difference in your face and take years off your looks!

Never heard of Sculptura? What is it? if it lasts 2 or 3 years, that sounds great

I have restylane and it lasts almost a year. Not sure about Sculptra but I think you need a few sessions, so that can get pricey.
