IT’S BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?
You knew it was coming — October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a health campaign organized by major charities every October to increase awareness of breast cancer and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure as well offer information and support to those affected by it. Throughout this month, there are numerous events and an influx of pink products, ribbons and landmarks to increase attention and support for this cause.
The American Cancer Society reports that every two minutes a woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer. This statistic drives home the point that more needs to be done to increase awareness and help support the cause. What are you going to do to make a difference? Will you donate your time or money, participate in a charity walk or run or remind someone to make their mammogram appointment? The more you can do to help the cause, the more funds can be raised and ultimately a cure can be found for this horrible disease.
Here, 5 beauty companies that are doing their part, but they need your participation to make a difference:
Paul Mitchell’s Pink Out Loud Limited Edition Collection features specially packaged hair and style favorites including the styling kit (below), brushes, products, a flat iron, blow dryer and more (from $5.99 – $129.99), all geared towards initiating life-saving conversations, driving awareness and encouraging women to inspire those they love. The Pink Out Loud Campaign page also makes it easy to become a fundraiser and help Paul Mitchell raise over $100,000 to benefit Bright Pink, a national non-profit organization that focuses on prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women.
Shiseido Cosmetics America has partnered with Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW).Throughout the month of October, for every $25 purchase of Shiseido Veiled Rouge in Pomegranate (a sharp pink with a reddish glow), Skyglow (a luminous, warm coral pink), or Sloe (a vibrant, berry pink) sold in select stores and online throughout the month of October, Shiseido will donate $5 to Cancer and Careers, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting working people living with cancer.
Ulta Beauty is offering limited-edition Donate with Kiss® Pink products in support of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. For each $5 item, Ulta will donate 50%. There are numerous products to choose from including a clutch, jeweled compact, fragrance atomizer and tassel keychain but my favorite is the Cuff Bracelet Set. At only $5 each, why not buy them all?
