HEAT SEEKERS – 5 MUST-HAVE HAIR TOOLS
The mane that has never known a good hair tool is a sad head of hair indeed. With the market continuously upping their game when it comes to hair appliances, there’s a bounty crop of life altering tools designed to do pretty much everything, from drying your hair in minutes to curling it like a stylist, to straightening every kink out of it.
Try these 5 of our fave hair saviors:
Conair 1875 Watt Ionic Turbo Styler ($30.99)
From a quiet tone motor to an efficient cool setting, this hairdryer is inexpensive but highly efficient. It’s a value investment that dries hair within minutes (unless you have Rapunzel-length locks), and also looks and feels sleek. Since it’s touted as a “conditioning” dryer with its ionic properties, it helps reduce frizz too. Worth the price and we love the cobalt hue.
T3 Featherweight 2Â ($200)
As the name implies, this ultra-light tourmaline-infused sleek hair dryer gives fast-drying results. It also reduces frizz through proprietary emission of negative ions into the hair through a gentle, wide airflow. The Cool Shot button gives a burst of air that’s refreshing (tip: alternate hot and cold air bursts for more effective drying). It’s a little more luxurious than your average shoestring budget drugstore dryer, but think of it as an investment that keeps on giving. It pays for itself when you consider it costs about the same as three or four blowouts.
 ghd Classic 1-inch Styler ($185)
ghd is one of the original flat iron brands that wowed us. This may be one sleek styler but it has a lot of thoughtful perks: universal voltage which helps with travel, automatic shutoff, and since it’s an inch-long styler, it’s perfect for both hair straightening and also easy to make curls. For glistening curls, mist hair with the ghd thermal protector, section the hair and lightly mist with a spray before you create curls so that they have hold.
drybar 3-Day Bender 1.25 Inch Curling Iron ($125)
Because of the sealing and smoothing action on strands, the curls last longer. The rotating barrel emits infrared energy which helps smooth the cuticle to reduce frizz, and also helps with the shine quality. In the looks department this curling iron is a winner: a bright lemon-yellow handle and modern, sleek design. Another benefit is that it’s very lightweight so your hand wont get tired curling your locks.
Rusk Curl Freak ($189)
If you have straight hair, curls are usually the object of your envy. Rusk Curl Freak takes a strand at time, and provides an effortless curling action thanks to its 3-curl direction setting. Since it heats up to a temperature of 450 degrees, the curls also stay intact and for a longer period of time, but because the heating happens in the inner curl barrel, you’ll never feel its thermal effects.
