Salmon, dark greens and nuts – we’ve all known these super foods are good for our bodies, but who knew they also contribute to silky, glowing hair too. Eating a well-balanced diet is the key to unlocking beautiful hair, according to the healthy hair experts at Infusium 23, the venerable hair-care brand dedicated to finding solutions to all sorts of hair problems. Read on for some tasty tips for healthy, shiny hair.

Luster and Shine

Salmon:  loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B-12 and iron, salmon helps keep hair shiny and lustrous.

Carrots: a delicious source of vitamin A, said to improve the condition of the scalp to help grow shiny strong hair.

Brazil Nuts: chock-a-block full of the mineral selenium, which helps hair grow thick and shiny.

Strengthen Weak Locks

Dark Greens: veggies like spinach and broccoli are packed with vitamins A and C that help the body produce sebum – hair’s natural conditioner. Leafy green veggies also contain iron and calcium that strengthen the hair.

Low Fat Dairy: skin milk, yogurt and cottage cheese are all rich in calcium, which helps to fortify hair.

Prevent Hair Loss

Poultry: full of hair supporting protein. A diet lacking in protein can lead to brittle, weak hair, and in some cases hair loss.

Walnuts, cashews, pecans and almonds: full of zinc, known to prevent hair loss.

Promote Healthy Growth

Cucumbers:  rich in silica, a mineral that has been found to promote hair growth.

Beans: pinto, black or fava, beans are another fab source of protein, which promotes healthy hair growth.

And last but not least, don’t forget the water – hair gets thristy too!
