GO PINK IN OCTOBER FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS
With the increasing use of every day chemicals, GMO-laden foods, and other potentially harmful substances, the average woman has a lot to be aware of. Breast cancer is by no means an easy issue to grapple with, and while treatment, detection, and survival rates improve regularly, it is still an issue that will affect most women sometimes in their life.
The American Cancer Society estimates that 232,340 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women in 2013 (compared to 230,480 in 2011). While studies have shown that the number of breast cancer cases have decreased since 2000, the statistics are nevertheless alarming: breast cancer is still the second leading cause for cancer deaths in women, exceeded only by lung cancer.
Thankfully, breast cancer research moves us closer everyday toward better treatment and promising cures. October is the month where you can show your support for women, worldwide, and in a beautiful way too. Here are some beauty products that we love that support the cause and Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Evelyn Lauder Dream Solid Perfume Compact ($49.50)
The Pink Ribbon wouldn’t be a breast cancer awareness symbol without the legendary Evelyn Lauder, so it is fitting that a perfume compact filled with Estee Lauder Pleasures be one of the beautiful ways that women can contribute to BCA. The colorfully detailed compact with hearts and ribbons is hand crafted, and inside the compact is inscribed, “Estee Lauder Breast Cancer Awareness 2013.” The best part? 100% of all proceeds of the sale of this compact in North America goes to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Now for the first time, Clinique has created a special color for BCA: Pink Ribbon Honey. The pretty pink hue provides a universally flattering hint of color, and it comes in a custom-fit pink mini cosmetic carrying pouch with a pink ribbon detail. $3 from the proceeds will benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
