Metallic color for the cooler months? Yes, says Tom Pecheux, Creative Makeup Director for Estée Lauder.

The new Pure Color collection from Estée Lauder raises the concept of molten metal up a notch. The Metallics collection is all about wearing the cool sheen of metal on your eyes, lips, and skin. The nail lacquers are light but thick; the liquid-like shadows have vinyl-like finishes. For the nails, the lacquers have hyper-chromatics that highlight and dazzle.

The trick is all in the reflective formulation, which brings sophistication and edge to multi-dimensional color. The collection includes:

  • Pure Color Instant Intense EyeShadow Trios ($36) glide on like silk over eyes, but offer you an easy bet for that smokey eye. The formula transitions from soft powder to a silky liquid-like texture that gives the impression of being both silk and satin. Crystalline polymers magnify and amplify the color for more clarity and vibrancy. Optics create the reflective shine for the eight shades: Smoked Chrome, Arctic Zinc, Steel Lilacs, Gilded Chocolates, Amber Alloy, Beach Metals, Sterling Plums, Camo Chrome).
  • Pure Color High Intensity Lip Lacquer ($25) is truly a lipstick masquerading as a gloss. These are richly-pigmented hues that range from sultry nudes to daring wines. Of course, being part of a Metallics collection, it’s all about the shine. These lip glosses feature True Vision technology, which provides a rich color payoff. While the lip glosses are less hydrating than the lipsticks despite the new moisture-infused formula, the color and shine are both impressive. A new paddle applicator that dips in the center helps disperse an even amount of color on the lips (these come in Peach Glass, Mirrored Mauve, Ruby Glow, Vinyl Rose, Hot Cherry, Fuchsia Flash, Liquid Petal, Wet Plum, Chrome Kimono, Melting Sun, Electric Wine, Amber Halo).
  • Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipsticks ($26) are my favorite of them all because the color really wraps around the lips and have a beautiful chromatic finish. There is a fusion of both pigments and pearls that are perfect for a range of skin tones, and I love the moisture-rich formula, which works wonderfully in the case of the lipstick, not so much the gloss.
  • Pure Color Limited Edition Vivid Shine Nail Lacquer ($20) includes absolutely stunning metallic shades to wear on your fingers this fall. In colors like Rose Gold, Midnight Metal, Chocolate Foil, Steel Orchid, Brushed Gold, Chrome Violet, and Metallic Green these lacquers have a multi-faceted spectrum, giving you a pretty flash of color!

The Pure Color Metallics collection is available for a limited time online and in stores.
