MEET ANNA’S MOTHER
Elizabeth Hallett is the au naturale British mom who created her skincare brand, Elizabeth’s Daughter, to be gentle enough for the most tender and pure complexions and named it after her daughter Anna. The range is sold at Harvey Nichols Beyond Beauty and John Lewis stores in the UK. www.elizabethsdaughter.co.uk
How do you juggle being a mom with running a successful beauty company?
I am fortunate that the two things merge into one. Elizabeth’s Daughter is a premium skincare range inspired by my teenage daughter. Having suffered myself with problem skin, I wanted to try and instill the virtues of good skincare within Anna and to try and prevent her from the same fate. Having been unable to find anything suitable on the market specifically for young skins, I decided to create my own gentle and effective range. The range is also ideal for sensitive-skinned adults and those that prefer a more natural approach. I have received emails from mothers to say that they have been “borrowing” their daughter’s skincare with great results.
Are your products natural or organic?
The products are 95% natural on average and contain high-quality botanical ingredients, including some certified organics. These are complemented by minerals, vitamins and proteins. The products do not contain parabens, sulphates or petro-chemicals. Using both innovative and well-trusted ingredients sourced from all over the globe with respect for their environments, we test on teenage girls and sensitive-skinned adults, never on animals.
What is your favourite product in the range and why?
The Intensive Moisturiser as it is packed full of wonderfully effective ingredients, such as Sacha Inchi oil from Peru. Incredibly rich in Omegas 3, 6 and 9 (83% as opposed to 31% in fish oil) and fatty acids, it is a wonderful skincare ingredient. Certified organic, it is sustainably harvested from the rain forests, providing valuable income for local farmers. It also contains anti-oxidant Kakadu Plum Extract from Australia which is exceptionally high in Vitamin C (one fruit is equal to ten oranges!). Revered for thousands of years by the Aborigines as a medicinal food, the fruit is wild-harvested in a sustainable way without degradation to the environment.
What other beauty brands do you love?
Lancome Mascara is just the best! I am also a fan of MAC eyeshadow and YSL Touche Eclat to help disguise tell-tale signs of any late nights!
What can we expect from Elizabeth’s Daughter in the future?
Innovative products that fit into a young girl’s lifestyle. We are currently working on an overnight spot treatment product. Also – STOP PRESS – a boy’s range is on its way!
What’s your favourite bag?
My classic black Chanel
