Now is the season of extra, extra dry skin, and chances are that even if you’re slathering on a ton of moisturizer, it simply isn’t enough. Enter the era of the super moisturizer: products that really go the extra mile when it comes to making your skin optimally hydrated and as smooth and supple as a baby’s bottom.

Super moisturizers are those with real staying power, so you know that one layer is enough. You’ll never feel that dry, taut feeling you experience with some creams or serums, and there’s little need for touch ups. After consulting with Philadelphia dermatologist, Dr. Franziska Ringpfeil and testing several options, these are the ones that truly stood up to a day filled with running around and minor havoc from erratic fall weather.

Zelens Z MATRIX, Energy & Moisture Infusion ($140)

This rich but light (i.e. non greasy)  hydro-energizing luxurious cream-gel is truly one of the best moisturizers I have ever encountered. It also revives skin with chrono-energizing properties. If your skin is easily tired and dry, just dip your finger into this gorgeous pale peach jar and moisturize your cares away. It also leaves skin smooth and radiant with its multiple active ingredients, including Pentapeptide and hydrolized soy protein. The Z Matrix formula contains a unique botanical blend composed of six potent cellular plant extracts. Trust us when we say this is $140 extremely well spent.

Organic Olive Essence Gold Facial Day Moisturizer ($29.99)

This day moisturizer is made with essential olive oil and also organic gold. It’s far from gimmicky, however. The texture of this non-greasy cream is not tacky at all and it provides nourishing comfort to parched skin. Formulated for all skin types, this moisturizer is filled with organic ingredients that are good enough to eat including organic aloe, rice extract, coconut acid, and shea butter. Packed in a dark olive green bottle, this has the look and feel of a luxurious moisturizer, and it lasts!

La Mer Moisturizing Soft Cream ($150)

La Mer Moisturizing Soft CreamNothing says luxury quite like La Mer, and the brand’s new offering is all about moisture. This is a lighter formula than the traditional rich La Mer treatments; hence, it’s perfect for all skin types. The entire point of the Soft Cream is to replenish moisture and impart soft radiance. This delivers the same radiance and renewal that the original cream does, but in a completely different texture. It’s still infused with the iconic La Mer Miracle Broth, and delivers the rich goods straight to the layers of skin that need moisture the most.

Artistry Time Defiance Recovery Creme (Night/Day, $65.40)

This is really a product that sits in the anti-aging department, technically speaking. But it also promises to boost hydration by a whopping 181%. While we don’t have a way of really measuring that number, the hydration component is the first thing you’ll notice when you wear this Creme (Night or Day versions). Touted as a Miss America favorite, this really is a cream that should be in every woman’s cosmetic cabinet whether she’s ushering in winter, hopping on a plane, or truly trying to get on the anti-aging bandwagon. This is an über, super moisturizer, and helps increase collagen and elastin production for a “virtual lift.”

skyn ICELAND Antidote Quenching Daily Lotion ($45)

This lightweight lotion is designed as a hydrating tonic for chronically stressed skin. Antidote will give your skin the super hydration it needs, but also will  help fortify skin and protect it from the ravages of stress. If your skin is congested but also is looking for a shot of hydration, this is your guy. It’s also great for red or irritated skin, and suitable for acne prone or sensitive skin types.
