COLOR CORRECTION RULES
I’ve been in the beauty business for quite a while, and still my experience with color correctors was limited to childhood memories of rummaging through my mom’s makeup bag and discovering her Adrien Arpel green color corrector that was used to counteract her every-now-and-then redness from rosacea — It made such a difference when she was experiencing a flare up.
I was recently reminded of this at an event for Algenist’s new makeup launch when a makeup artist at the event used the line’s new color correctors on my skin — I was amazed at the change. She was able to downplay some redness around my nose area and brighten my complexion using very little product and a light touch. I discovered that besides Algenist, there’s been an influx of color correctors at the ready for those who have the need. It’s an easy way to deal with virtually every skin issue you might have without piling on layers of concealer.
To figure out what you need to address your complexion issues, think of the color wheel and choose the exact opposite of what you have. For example, if you have rosacea or acne which shows up as redness, you’ll need to use the opposite color of red on the color wheel which is green to neutralize the redness.
Keep in mind that a little goes a long way and you can always add another sheer layer of product if desired. Use a clean makeup sponge or brush and apply a very light coat before applying your foundation or concealer over the corrector. *You can dampen the sponge first for an even more sheer application.
