CLINIQUE’S POWER COUPLE FOR ACNE
The Acne Solutions Powder Makeup ($31), which launched in September, is an oil-control foundation accompanied by a square-shaped applicator sponge that is chemically pretreated to avoid bacterial contamination. The purposes of this compact are several: acne and oil control portability, mattifying the skin, and providing buildable coverage that will eventually eliminate zits and even redness. It’s obviously easy to stash this in your purse for a quick touch up — anywhere — which is the primary reason why one should buy such a compact.
Of course, layering this with Clinique’s Acne Solutions Liquid Makeup ($27) is the goal for a flawless coverage, but I’ve used this on a standalone basis to great results, as a foundation that is. It also comes in several shades for all skin types — Fair, Ivory, Neutral, Honey, Beige, Vanilla, Sand, Deep Neutral, Cream Caramel, Ginger, Golden, and Clove.Â
Although Clinique isn’t the first to have a powder foundation, only a few are acne-specific. The supply of acne-related compacts is still on the thin side, and I’m glad Clinique is filling this void, if anything, to show that acne control doesn’t have to be an at-home-looking-at-the-medicine-cabinet kind of ritual. You can do it at the airport, on the subway, and even in the movie theater if you want. I’ll definitely be stocking up.
