While treatments for acne were developed way back in the B.C. era (the Greeks used sulfur baths for this purpose), technology has come a long way in the 21st century. Nowadays gadgets have become a skincare junkie’s best friend.

Almost every beauty aficionado has heard of (or owns) a Clarisonic. When the gadget was first invented, its primary purpose was just to cleanse the skin, and the company did not think of acne per se. Now, the brand is targeted a niche demographic with its Clarisonic Acne Clarifying Collection. The star product is a new Acne Cleansing brush head specifically engineered for blemish-prone skin, and one that is safe, gentle and effective to use twice daily.

Designed with softer bristle tips, the acne brush head is ideal even for sensitive skin. The extra-plush bristles also help to thoroughly cleanse the pores. Since the Clarisonic brush oscillates with a frequency that produces over 300 movements per second – ideal if you want to melt away dirt and oil – the use of the system with acne brush head ensures specificity and precision for skin prone to breakouts.

The Collection also includes a new travel-friendly Mia 2 with two speeds for tailored cleansing. The Mia 2’s patented T-Timer is designed to give you a precise and even 60 second cleanse on acne-prone areas. It’s best to use the system with the 2% salicylic-acid cleanser for optimal results, and I found the experience extremely pleasant, muss-free and effective. Within a few weeks, my blemish-prone skin became clearer, my pores seemed smaller, and the T-zone areas were less oily. And the bristles do feel like velvet and completely soft to touch and cleanse with.

If you’re unsure, take a look at the proof in the pudding photos. Here are before/after shots:

The entire Acne Clarifying collection retails for $169, and this includes theĀ  new Mia 2 with an exclusive green color coded handle, an acne brush head for any Clarisonic Skin System, and an Acne Daily Clarifying Cleanser.
