BEAUTY IN THE BAG CELEBRATES 5 BEAUTIFUL YEARS
It seems like only yesterday that I thought it would be cool to start a mother-daughter blog. Eden was in high school and just developing her beauty and writing chops, and I had always secretly desired to create an online community to discuss the latest in aesthetic and cosmetic beauty treatments.
That was five years ago, and today Beauty in the Bag has grown to a community of 400,000+ members. Our daily posts cover everything from the newest professional aesthetic treatments (think fillers, BOTOX, lasers, and radio frequency) to cosmeceuticals, skincare, makeup, fragrance, and interviews with cosmetic surgeons, dermatologists, spas, and medspas.
More than just another beauty blog, Beauty in the Bag has 120,000+ Facebook friends, 70,000+ Twitter followers, and more than 200,000 in our Twitter network.
And did we mention giveaways? A new Gorgeous Giveaway posts every Monday at 11am ET and stays live for one week. Prizes run the gamut from active anti-aging products from brands like DDF, ZO Skin Health, and Exuviance to body treatments and makeup palettes from Clinique, Lorac, Tarte and more.
In response to growing pains, this past year we updated our graphics and launched a weekly Twitter chat. The conversation is open to all on Tuesdays at 1 pm ET @Beautyinthebag, #BeautyBag. Our reach has surprised even us—touching about 6.2 million.
From the days of just Eden and me, Beauty In the Bag now includes a half dozen beauty contributors based in the US and UK. Dorene Kaplan became managing editor in 2010, Jackie Ignall was named features editor in 2011, and award-winning writer Denise Mann joined as health editor in the same year. Charu Suri, our Twitter chat host and market editor, came on board in 2012 and Beatrice Aidin, another award winner contributes stateside and from London. And now that she has graduated from Boston University, Eden Lipke serves as our community manager.
Our various beauty backgrounds means we can cover the news from all angles: product launches, clinical trials, procedure protocols, and the best places to have treatments from medspas to MD offices and clinics.
