It’s not even officially summer, yet the beautymakers are well into planning fall makeup looks. The first to hit my desk is the Cinema Noir Collection from Laura Mercier, a sultry, smoky lineup inspired by Hollywood stars of the late 1940s like Ingrid Berman, Katherine Hepburn and Rita Hayworth, who were respected for their intellect and wit as well as their beauty.
The 1940s was the time when black-and-white film transitioned into color. As such, the Cinema Noir Collection features muted shades to represent the transition. Smoky mixes of teal and chocolate blend together to create a sultry eye. Updated shades of rose and mauve for the lips capture the romance of the era, but with a soft, creamy finish. Cheeks are luminous and glowing while nails are painted in soft shades of nude and cocoa.
The collection comprises: Eye Colour Duet ($22), Tightline Cake Eye Liner ($22), Long Lash Mascara ($24), Shimmer Bloc ($38), Nail Lacquer ($28) and Crème/Shimmer Lip Colour ($24). The Cinema Noir collection will hit department and specialty store shelves in July.
At the same time, Laura Mercier will introduce a new permanent piece to her mascara wardrobe – Faux Lash Mascara. If you love the look of long fluttery fake lashes, but hate the feeling and the wear and tear on your natural lashes, then this might be the mascara for you. Featuring good for your lashes ingredients like carnauba, beeswax and jojoba waxes, Faux Lash is formulated to deliver extraordinary volume and glossy conditioning.
