August 15th is #NationalRelaxationDay and a great reminder to slow down and take some time doing things that help you to unwind. To me, the perfect relaxing day would be low key and would probably include a nice morning walk or a hike surrounded by nature, some time engrossed in a wonderful book, and a simple hours-long meal prepared by and enjoyed with family and friends. For others, it might mean some cardio, a shopping marathon and dancing into the wee hours. You might decide to reevaluate your bathing ritual and update your shower head with one that has dual heads for your scalp and body or a massaging function that delivers a spa-like experience, or maybe a nice glass of wine and some calming music is more your speed. Whatever it takes for you to find your inner calm, I’m sure we can all agree that a little pampering can only help you reboot.
Here, 5 BITB-approved ways to elevate your me-time:
WelleCo Sleep Welle Fortified Calming Tea ($69) hits the right spot as a pre-slumber herbal drink thanks to calming skullcap, valerian root and hops. It also contains lemon balm, passionflower and natural lemon and mango flower for a delicious and soothing, subtly fruity blend so you can let go of your stress and sleep, sleep, sleep.
Kora Organics Heart Chakra Aromatherapy Oil ($48) will lift your mood, promoting positivity and self-love. The mix of Rose Otto, Sandalwood, Ylang-Ylang and Cedarwood encourage a state of calmness, inner balance, hope, joy and confidence. Apply it as you would fragrance, on your inner wrists, neck, and behind your ears.
Soap & Paper Factory Luxe Bubble Bath ($32) does the trick. There’s nothing quite like a long, leisurely bath to help you unwind. All the luxe bubble baths from this line soften your skin and leave it lightly fragranced, and all the wonderful options — Gardenia, Jasmine, Green Tea, Lavender and Lemon Verbena — make it impossible to choose a favorite.
Molton Brown Single Wick Candles ($49) come in a range of scents including Rosa Absolute, Delicious Rhubarb & Rose, Black Peppercorn, Gingerlily, Coco & Sandalwood, Black Leather Accord & Cade and Orange & Bergamot. Light a candle as you bathe or use it to infuse your home with a fragrance that makes you feel great.
Sephora Collection Eye Mask ($5 each) gives you a guaranteed 15 minutes of downtime. Apply under each eye area and relax for 15 minutes before removing and gently massaging the xcess product into your skin. Each one of the 7 different eye masks has different active ingredients to suit your needs. Available in Rose, Pearl, Ginseng, Lingzhi, Lotus, Pomegranate, Honey and Green Tea.
Note: The WelleCo Sleep Welle Fortified Calming Tea, Soap & Paper Factory Luxe Bubble Bath and Molton Brown Single Wick Candles were all sent complimentary for review. The Kora Organics Heart Chakra Aromatherapy Oil and the Sephora Collection Eye Mask were tested in store. Opinions are my own.
