PINK PRODUCTS RAISE AWARENESS AND FUNDS FOR BREAST CANCER
Chances are that breast cancer has touched you in some way. Personally, my mother and grandmother both survived the disease, which affects approximately one in every eight women in the United States. That’s why I’m so grateful to be part of an industry that initiated and continues the Pink Ribbon campaign. This year the beauty makers once again pulled out all the stops to create “Pink” products that raise awareness as well as funds for research and support for women coping with the disease. Some of the leading recipients are The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Cancer and Careers, and Susan G, Komen for the Cure– all receiving a portion of the sales of products specially created for the campaign. Here’s a look at what the “Pink” beauty lineup has in store for you this month.
Shiseido: Support the cause in color. For each Luminizing Lip Gloss in Pop Life ($22) sold, Shiseido will donate $5 to Cancer and Careers, a non-profit dedicated to supporting working women living with cancer. The lip gloss is available online and in-store at select Macy’s, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom and Dillard’s locations.
Estee Lauder: Evelyn Lauder, the founder of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), has hand selected the three lipsticks comprising The Evelyn Lauder Lip Design Collection $25. The three Pure Color lipsticks in shades of Candy, Rubellite and Tiramisu go hand in hand in a pink croc print clutch. Visit www.esteelauder.com for purchase info. A portion of the sales benefit the BCRF, of course.
Bobbi Brown: As you may have figured out, I’m a big fan of the Bobbi Brpwn Shimmer Brick and the Limited Edition Pink Ribbon Shimmer Brick ($38) is no exception. Free shipping is available if purchased from bobbibrowncosmetics.com during the month of October. Portion of proceeds support The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
e.l.f.: The entire $3 cost of the Pageant Princess Mineral Lip Gloss, a perfectly kissable pink with a touch of glimmer, will be dedicated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. With health at the forefront, the gloss is paraben and preservative free, formulated with vitamins E and A. Purchase at eyeslipsface.com.
boscia: Blot away unwanted shine without disturbing your makeup with Rose Blotting Linens ($10) from boscia. The conveniently sized blotters are infused with rose essence to soothe skin and uplift the psyche. The company will donate 10% of sales to the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation to support breast cancer research. Available at sephora.com.
Conair: Three hair dryers, four hair straigtheners and one set of hot curlers comprise Conair’s Power of Pink collection, benefiting the Breas Cancer Research Foundation. As I’m always blowing out my hair dryer, I’m partial to the The Power of Pink Ionic Hair Styler ($25.99), which boasts a whopping 1875 watts – much needed for my massive mane.
OPI: For the fourth year in a row, OPI has created a Pink of Hearts Nail Lacquer ($8.50) to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world’s largest breast cancer organization. While the polish is intended to raise awareness, OPI is putting dollars behind its intention with a $25,000 donation to. Visit opi.com for more information.
