Just in time for the spring and summer weather comes two new brightening treatments specifically designed to diminish dark spots and make your skin brighter than the sun. The latest breakthrough in retinol research from the clinic of Dr. Dennis Gross (you know him as DG Skincare) involves ferulic acid, with naturally derived actives.

Ferulic acid protects from and helps reverse sun damage—and is perfect for the warmer days ahead when you’ll be outdoors more and more. It’s a plant-based antioxidant that is enriched with other vitamins to promote healthy skin. The new Ferulic Acid + Retinol Brightening Solution ($85) combines ferulic acid with retinol, which has been clinically proven to smooth out wrinkles and increase skin suppleness and elasticity. Included in the mix is licorice root extract, which has been long heralded as a lightening agent, in addition to possessing anti-inflammatory benefits. Bearberry extract fights hyperpigmentation and mulberry lightens skin and inhibits melanin production. And ferulic acid is a super antioxidant that helps fight the damaging effects of environmental forces.

You apply this the old fashioned way: using a dropper and onto some light microfiber pads. The unique fluid-like delivery system absorbs easily and smooths on skin beautifully. The best part about this treatment was when I started to notice not only radiant skin, but clearer skin as well. When I read the ingredients more thoroughly, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it contained salicylic acid and willow bark extract, which clear pores while also exfoliating. The mix is not drying because you’ll find hylauronic acid in it, too. It appears as though Dr. Gross has indeed, thought of everything.

I found my skin to be clearer and more radiant (with smaller pores) in less than a week. Be sure to stock up, and don’t forget to apply sunscreen after using this solution.

DG Skincare has also introduced a sister product, the Ferulic + Retinol Triple Correction Eye Serum ($65), which smooths texture and tones the skin, as well as addresses the pesky subject of wrinkles. I saw results almost immediately, and its handy pump delivers just the right amount of product to apply under the eyes.

Regular use of these products resulted in considerable improvement on my skin in a very short period of time, and I give them a huge thumbs up.
