5 FABULOUS FRAGRANCES FOR VALENTINE’S DAY
With Valentine’s Day in a couple of weeks, step up your fragrance wardrobe with a new scent that will make the day and night extra special. Here are some new and noteworthy finds to try:
Clinique Calyx ($52)
A clean and energizing scent, Clinique Calyx combines citrus notes and a floral heart, as well as lush greens in one sleekly curved bottle. Originally introduced in 1986 (by Prescriptives), this classic scent paved the way for fruity floral scents steering clear of the dramatic, traditional floral oriental path of the time. For starters, the grapefruit top notes comes off as a sparkling surprise (in a good way) and the fragrance itself is quite lush and womanly.
Try this if: you want a clean fragrance that’s a refreshing twist on the traditional floral.
Lucky Darling ($69)
Clothing retailer Lucky Brand and beauty giant Elizabeth Arden have partnered to create Lucky Darling, a fragrance with a bottle that’s hard to miss. The blue and pink swirl design with a gem-encrusted lid also has a charm that dangles from it, bearing the semblance of a piece of jewelry. Wear the scent yourself (ginger and juicy Mandarin opening notes, red currant, pink peony, wisteria and orange flower), or present it on Valentine’s Day a gift to someone special, especially one that falls into the “darling” category.
Try this if: you want a showpiece of a fragrance bottle, with a floral scent that’s both candy-like and glamorous.
Chanel Chance Eau Tendre Shimmering Powdered Perfume ($50)
A fragranced powder that will make any Valentine’s Day date soar, the Chance Eau Tendre Shimmering Powder is a Limited Edition sparkling version of the Chance perfume that comes with a soft puff. The perfume itself is feminine but youthful, with notes of vanilla, grasse jasmine, and orris. Also new are the Limited Edition perfumed Shimmering Body Cream ($75) and the Shimmering Touch Gel ($50). These are ideal finishing touches for your Chanel Chance routine.
Try this if: you want something shimmering and unapologetically glamorous.
Marchesa Parfum d’Extase ($85)

This gorgeous diamond-like bottle with a belt of stones is spotlight worthy, and the scent itself is a sensual combination of freesia, young violet leaves, night blooming jasmine, ambrox, and musks. The result is a grown-up fragrance, complex and sensuous for a special date, with nothing predictable about it.
Try this if: you want something unusual and grown up.
Best of Clean Coffret ($59)
If you think you’d rather not smell like laundry on date night, think again. These fragrances are homey but extremely comforting, and the limited edition coffret includes three signature fragrances (Warm Cotton, Rain, and Skin) that truly give you a clean feeling. You won’t even feel as though you’re wearing perfume, just a comforting aura.
Try this if: you’re not into girly florals and want a fresher feel.
