According to IVillage, women are connecting online and sharing their brand experiences and shopping habits with each other. 

The 2009 Women and Social Media Study from iVillage, BlogHer and Compass Partners reported that women are leading 24/7 lives and to break through the hype and marketing claims, they are trusting each other to highlight the best products and category busters to save time, money and shopping faux pas. 42 million women who participate in any form of social media weekly or more were included in this research.

What’s the moral of this story? POST, POST, POST your comments, likes, dislikes, pet peeves, and horror stories because people are reading and they are listening to what you have to say…

In fact, today the consumer has all the power.  The study also found that 62% of those surveyed compare prices online, and 48% spend more time online researching before they buy.  Women seek out message boards and forums for “finding out about new products” (47%), to “get information” (68%), “share opinions” (70%), “seek advice, recommendations” (49%), and “provide advice, recommendations” (49%). And they enjoy influencing other women too.
