TREND TO TRY: ROSE GOLD HAIR

10-28-16 | Posted by

Kylie Jenner wasn’t the first to do it — way before her there were actors Poppy Delevingne, Blake Lively and Emma Roberts — but she’s the one who is making waves right now with rose gold hair. Love here or hate her, Jenner actually looks so great in this hue, it just might inspire you to take the plunge too.

There are numerous variations of this trend. You’ll find it in the lightest pastel pinks to deep golden auburn and everything in between. Know that if you’re blonde or fair-haired and thinking of heading in the pink to warm red direction, it’s worth giving it a go since your colorist can simply do a tonal change with a tinted gloss that will fade out over time so you’re back to your usual hue, but if you’re brunette it’s a somewhat bigger undertaking as your colorist will have to do a lift with bleach to get you lightened up enough to at least a light brown so that the rose shade is visible.

PREVENT SHADE FADE: Once you’ve gone to all the trouble of getting this trending color, you’ll certainly want to make it last as long as possible. The following tips will help you prevent your new shade from fading fast:

  • Wash your hair as infrequently as possible in tepid to warm water only. Color fades fast when hot water is used so avoid it at all costs.
  • Always use a hydrating, color protective shampoo and conditioner.
  • Use a dry shampoo to help you extend the time needed between shampoos.
  • Ask your colorist which pink depositing shampoo and conditioner would be the right choice to help you maintain your specific rose gold hue.
