We’ve been missing it for months on the East Coast, but “magic hour,” that time right before sunset when all is bathed in a golden glow is making its return. Jane Iredale’s new 5-piece Magic Hour collection hit shelves this month and features golden, light, and shimmering color—all in honor of the mineral makeup brand’s 20th anniversary.
Ironically, this celebration of sunset was inspired by a product called Moonglow. “From the moment we released it, Moonglow Quad Bronzer became one of our hottest products,” stated Iredale. “When we were looking for something special to do to celebrate our 20th anniversary, we couldn’t think of anything better than letting Moonglow be our inspiration.”
The Magic Hour collection comprises four makeup products for lips, eyes, and face, and a new brush.
PurePressed Eye Shadow Triple in Golden Girl ($28): The anchor product of the collection, in my opinion, this trio of glimmering eye color truly encompasses the shades of spring. The bronze, dusty rose, and gold colors work on any skin color and create a subtle look that just begs to be worn at a springtime luncheon.
Jelly Jar Gel Eyeliner in Black or Brown ($28) – Amazingly easy to apply, this new to the brand eyeliner really turns up the drama of the Magic Hour collection. Of course, you can apply it subtly, but its shiny finish will tempt you to create a bold Cleopatra or cat-eye effect.
Angle Eyeliner Brush ($15.50) – This brush was designed specifically for the Jelly Jar Gel Eyeliner. It’s angle will help you create the thinnest of lines along the lash line or a thicker statement look.
In Touch Highlighter in Comfort ($28) – Following in the tradition of Moonglow, this cream-to powder brings a glow to the face and can be used to spotlight cheekbones, brow bones, the bridge of the nose, or even as an eyelid primer. Comfort is a sunny peach shade.
Lip Fixation in Compulsion or Craze ($30) – This is a dual-ended lip color that features a gloss on one end and a stain on the other. Compulsion is a very wearable natural looking mauve shade, and Craze is golden coral that will work wonders on very fair or darker skin tones.
All in all, this is a subtle collection that brings a magical glow to the skin.
