A.J. Hanley and her husband, Jim Radosevic are the proud owners of a small skincare business that is dedicated to treating acne, called The Humane Company.
She had enjoyed a long career as a writer and editor specializing in beauty and health for publications like Shape, Glamour, Good Housekeeping, Health, and Real Simple. After moving from New York City to the North Fork of Long Island, she and Jim, a former New York president of the iconic advertising agency Young & Rubicam, set out to embark on an adventure together. Their goals were to combine their unique skill sets, reignite their passion for creating and strengthen their relationship. That was how The Humane Company was born.
Celebrity and editorial makeup artist Dillon Peña had a vision: enhance the landscape of the green beauty industry with clean, natural small-batch beauty products. He created Leland Francis as an ode to his great-grandfather, and set the natural beauty bar high by offering handmade, cruelty-free, vegan formulations crafted in the USA.
Leland Francis celebrates individuality and indulgent self-care for a more youthful you, using the finest ingredients that layer beautifully under makeup and are delicate on skin. The botanically-based brand extends beyond skincare to bodycare and candles.

Meet the Chemist Behind Avon Skincare
In addition to pretty packaging and luxurious textures, skincare development is a highly scientific endeavor. Just ask Glen Anderson, Director of Avon’s Global Skincare Product Development group, a position he has held since 2007. He and his team are responsible for all Avon skincare launches such as the Clearskin acne system and ongoing additions to the ANEW lineup. For such developments, one must have the credentials, and Dr. Anderson does. He joined Avon as a Development Chemist in 1995 after earning a B.S in Chemistry from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the Pennsylvania State University.
