INGROWN HAIR INTERVENTION

Just about everyone strives for smooth, fuzz-free skin from the waist down (especially come summer) but shaving, waxing and other depilation methods often come at a price: Ingrown hairs. According to Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey board-certified dermatologist Naana Boakye, M.D., the root cause (no pun intended) of this common problem is the body’s natural reaction to a foreign object. “When shaving, hair is cut on an angle, which creates a sharp tip that often penetrates into the dermis and causes inflammation.” To this end, Dr. Boakye’s top hair-removal recommendations are lasers and threading (she’s not a fan of waxing due to the risk of heat-induced discoloration), but if you jus

We’re not sure when detoxing became such a thing, but it doesn’t look like this “trend” is going anywhere. From fasting and cleansing to soaking and masking, there are a variety of ways to help purge toxins from the skin, body and beyond. THINGS THAT DON’T GO BUMP

PFB VANISH –  PFB stands for Pseudo Folliculitis Barbae which is a medical term for razor bumps – those red, nasty bumps that sometimes appear after shaving, waxing, laser hair removal, and can be an ingrown hair that gets stuck, or result in a pimple or whitehead or worse, an infection. They are especially common in the bikini line and nothing gets rid of them until PFB VANISH. I used Tend Skin for a while but it was actually very strong and irritating, but this is much better for my skin. It’s a roll on gel applicator which makes it really easy to apply with no mess or waste. It comes in 2 ozs (TSA friendly so you can take it on vacay) and 4 ozs sizes. The main ingredients are salicylic acid, glycolic acid and lactic acids, plus camphor oil willow bark. You should use it right after shaving at least once a day, or you can start two days before you shave or wax to prevent ingrown hairs.  It feels cool and soothing going on too.  The same company makes NUMB IT which contains lidocaine so it makes hair removal almost painless (great for using with at home hair removal devices too), and SMOOTH IT which is a lavendar, jojoba, papaya, pineapple, green tea body lotion that sounds amazing.

FINAL VERDICT:  RDW (Run Don’t Walk) – The perfect solution to a very common problem and only $19.95 for 4 ounces.  You can use it on your underarms, arms, legs, bikini area, and also on your face, so it’s great for guys after shaving those beards off.  www.pfbvanish.com
