The Screen Actors Guild Awards held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 drew a mix of classic and edgy beauty styles, especially in the hair and makeup department. But some trends—like media headlines—stood out. Here is a handful we loved:

Actress Claire Danes, who was nominated for the best Female Actor in a Drama Series for Homeland, wore makeup created by artist Matin Maulawizada for Laura Mercier. Matin said that he was inspired by the actress’ Vionnet gown, which had a Roxy music feel; he gave the actress’ skin a beautiful moisturized base with Laura Mercier Mega Moisturiz

The dresses gracing the red carpet at the 65th Emmy Awards came in a rainbow of colors (emphasis on red, white, and blue), but makeup and hair followed minimalistic and classic approaches with subtle lips and graceful bobs. Here are a few of our fave Emmy beauty looks.
The verdict is still out on her Armani Privé gown, well, honestly, I’ve given it a thumbs down, but Claire Dane’s hairstyle fit the Homeland star and Emmy winner to a tee. Stylist Peter Butler used John Frieda Hair Care to give the actress a short faux bob that elongated her neck to swan proportions. He prepped her wet locks with Frizz-Ease Thermal Protection Formula Hair Serum and Frizz-Ease Curl Revive
Colorful gowns took center stage at the 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards, as nominees, presenters and winners walked the red carpet donning vibrant shades of orange, blue and coral. We particularly loved Ginnifer Goodwin’s tangerine Monique Lhuillier number. To complement this rainbow of dresses, makeup and hair was kept subtle yet gorgeous.
Channeling a combination of Audrey Hepburn and Twiggy, presenter Ginnifer Goodwin, who stars in ABC’s Once Upon a Time, balanced her cut out gown with a signature pixie cut and sixties winged eye makeup. “This was a Twiggy-inspired makeup look, so we kept it simple with a classic thick black liner,” said mark celebrity makeup artist Mai Quynh. At New York’s posh London Hotel where Gordon Ramsay’s cuisine rules, actress Claire Danes shared her own LATISSE experience and a glimpse into her personal beauty regimen, which is pretty low maintenance for an A-lister. Beauty in the Bag was there.
According to Claire, “I have been using LATISSE for about a year now. I had some minor irritation at first but it only lasted for a few day. Now I use it every day. It’s part of my routine and I don’t even think about it anymore. It’s amazing how every makeup artist I work with notices the difference in my lashes. They can’t believe it.” Her lashes do look gorgeous.
