Is it a mistake to use soap to wash my face?
Soap has gotten a bad rap. Traditionally soaps were made of lye, which is a rather harsh ingredient. But these days “soaps” can be sophisticated formulations that include many good for your skin ingredients. The most important decison is to pick a cleanser, whether it is a soap, liquid or cream product, that is formulated for your skin concern. For example, if your skin is dry, you need a moisturizing facial cleanser. If you break out, choose a cleanser that is specifically for acne prone skin. Harsh detergents will strip skin of natural oils, and can cause irritation. Avoid using bar soap that is intended for your body – on your face. So don’t throw out all your soap bars!

my mother used ivory soap every day of her life and had the most beautiful skin – I wouldnt dream of using it for my face. i use Purpose – it’s so mild and gentle and doesnt leave me tight and dried out.
