himScent is a very powerful tool. It plays with and affects our memory and can remind us of people, places, things and even past events in our lives. For these and many other reasons, it’s a very personal choice. Choosing something personal for someone else can be a tricky thing, but it can also show how much you know the person and how much you care. With Father’s Day and a new season (hello Summer!) right around the corner the timing couldn’t be more perfect to switch thing up with a new scent…but what to choose? We’ve got you covered! The CEW organization presented its annual Insiders’ Choice Beauty Awards recently, making it easy for you to whittle down the possible fragrance contenders for your favorite man:     THE WINNER IN THE MEN’S SCENT CATEGORY: Christian Dior – Dior Homme Eau for Men ($86) combines an invigorating citrus blend with  woodsy notes for a fresh, harmonious masculine/sophisticated blend. Moroccan grapefruit, Calabrian bergamot, Crimean coriander, Tuscan iris and Virginia cedar wood make up this “air of distinction” in a bottle.

THE FINALISTS IN THE MEN’S SCENT CATEGORY: Acqua di Parma Colonia Leather Eau de Parfum ($220) has sparkling citrus notes like Italian lemon from Sicily and orange oil that pair with raspberry, petitgrain oil and dry down to sensual leather, Cedar Atlas and Paraguayan guaiac woods for a fragrance that’s as special and unique as your man.

Issey Miyake Nuit d’Issey ($68) combines Black Pepper, Bergamot, Leather, Blackwoods and more for a rich, spicy scent perfect for the powerful, elegant mysterious man. Ideal for a special event or evening out.

Ermenegildo Zegna Essenze Peruvian Ambrette ($195) speaks to the strong, warm, masculine man. The rare and sensual Ambrette from Peru is what sets this scent apart. It’s a rich musk with nutty undertones and considered the only natural non-animal musk ingredient in the fragrance industry. Blended with Bergamot, Mandarin Oil, warm wood accords, Orris and Exotic Suede it’s taken to a whole new level.

John Varvatos Artisan Acqua ($49), a sensual, masculine floral has notes that include tangelo, mandarin, coriander, basil, geranium, jasmine sambac, moss and fir balsam for a touch of the refined. This fresh, artisanal scent can be found in a bottle surrounded by a hand-woven, natural, one-of-a-kind creation, a nod to the brand’s well-known and highly respected fashion house.

L’Occitane en Provence Eau de Cade ($58), a spicy woody fragrance evokes the spirit of the Cade Wood, known as a symbol of strong character and steadfast values of tradition and generosity. Bergamot, Cedar Wood, Cade Wood and Pink Pepper round out this fragrance and bring to mind the dry wood, red soil and hot stones found in the sunny Garrigue landscape of southern France.
